About Food Bank Viet Nam
According to UNEP, nearly one-third of the food produced globally is wasted (equivalent to 1.05 billion tons), while approximately one-third of the global population, or 2.4 billion people, face moderate to severe food insecurity.
The lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, along with crises such as climate change and armed conflicts, are causing widespread impacts.
Additionally, according to the 2024 Global Report on Food Crises by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), more than 282 million people in 59 countries and territories experienced severe food insecurity in 2023.
Food Bank Vietnam is currently advancing in developing and expanding its network, aiming to promote sustainable development in the agricultural-food value chain. The organization focuses on people and communities to ensure nutrition and prevent food waste.
Furthermore, Food Bank Vietnam advocates for a ‘greening’ approach in the operational frameworks and project structures of the organization, leveraging technology and enhancing both local and global partnerships with the goal of addressing corruption, sustainable food waste, and enhancing food equality in Vietnam.

About the project
Farm to Food Bank
The "Farm to Food Bank" project is an innovative initiative by Food Bank Viet Nam, aimed at bridging the gap between agricultural surplus and food scarcity. This project is designed to tackle several pressing challenges in the food supply chain, including reducing food waste, supporting farmers, and enhancing food security for the underprivileged communities.
At its core, the “Farm to Food Bank” project focuses on rescuing surplus agricultural products that are at risk of going to waste due to various reasons such as market oversupply, cosmetic imperfections, or logistical constraints. By connecting directly with farmers, the project ensures that these perfectly edible and nutritious foods are harvested and directed away from landfills towards those in need.
